Founder & Principal Consultant

Dr. Ebony D. Johnson, the "Renaissance Gyal," is an expert in health justice research and the founder of Asé Analytics. Her research interests span public health and sociology, focusing on research methods, social determinants of health, demography, neuropsychiatric health and substance use disorders, aging, and infectious diseases. With a Ph.D. in Sociology and an MS in Epidemiologic Science from the University of Michigan, Dr. Johnson combines epidemiologic insights with sociological perspectives to address health disparities and enhance public health policy. She employs mixed-methods research, community-led research, youth participatory action research, and policy analysis to drive her mission of eliminating health inequities.

Co-Founder, Biostatistics & Data Science Lead

Ashley Salmon, our resident "data-whisperer," is a seasoned biostatistician and public health researcher with an MPH in Biostatistics from Georgia State University. Ashley specializes in the design and management of complex databases, quality control analyses, and the dissemination of statistical findings. Her expertise includes using advanced statistical methods to understand health disparities and inform public health policy. At the Georgia Health Policy Center, Ashley focuses on incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into research methodologies. Her commitment to data integrity and precise communication helps bridge the gap between data science and actionable public health interventions.

Co-Founder, Environmental Health & Policy Lead

Alexa White, known as the "Mad Scientist who fled the Ivory Tower", is an ardent advocate for environmental justice, currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Michigan. As the Environmental Health & Policy Lead, Alexa applies her deep understanding of agroecology and climate technology to combat the environmental determinants of health. She has co-founded the Aya Research Institute, which fosters research and policy innovations for scientists of color in environmental fields. Alexa has been instrumental in developing environmental justice tools for federal use, ensuring that community needs and equity are at the forefront of environmental policy-making.

Co-Founder, Learning Design Lead

Michole “Mathcole” Washington is a Ph.D. candidate in Educational Studies at the University of Michigan, specializing in Mathematics Education. She also holds an MS in Applied Mathematics from the same institution. As the Learning Design Lead, Michole is dedicated to redefining STEM education through an anti-racist lens. Her work involves the design and implementation of educational programs that are inclusive and affirming to students of color. Additionally, she is the founder of STEMulation, an edutainment company committed to addressing systemic inequities in STEM education. Her leadership and innovative curricula have been pivotal in transforming educational practices to serve diverse learning communities better.

Communications & Media Strategist

Ayana Okoya brings a decade of experience in media relations and event programming to her role as Communications & Media Lead at Ase Analytics. With a background that includes positions at CVS Health and Princeton University, Ayana excels in developing strategic communication plans that strengthen brand integrity and engage diverse audiences. She holds a Bachelor's in Journalism/Communications from Kean University and a Master's in Strategic Organizational Communication from Rutgers University-New Brunswick. At Ase Analytics, Ayana directs all communications and media strategies, effectively conveying our commitment to advancing health equity and enhancing stakeholder engagement.
